Big Lake Half Marathon Race Registration Giveaway

CaptureI am absolutely thrilled to be giving away registration into my favorite half marathon, the Big Lake Half Marathon in Alton, New Hampshire on May 10th, 2014. Big Lake is by far my favorite half marathon and one I return to year after year. The beautiful course is the hallmark of this race. The first half of the race takes you up Route 11 in Alton and features scenic overlooks that offer breathtaking views of Lake Winnipesaukee’s Alton and Wolfeboro Bay. The second half of the course takes you down into a shoreline community where you catch glimpses of the lake through pine-studded shores.

Not only is the course beautiful it is also very well organized with great support and offers a fantastic post race finish area right next to Alton Bay.

My plan is to bypass a lot of the 5ks this year and run longer race distances. This would be a great close to home race for me — even better if it’s free!

I would LOVE to run this!! We have a house in Moultonborough and I wanted to run it last year, but ended up having a fall that prohibited me from running for a while. We boated down to watch the finish, it’s a BEAUTIFUL course (all of Lake Winnipesaukee is quite a sight) and you couldn’t ask for a prettier place to run. This would be fantastic comeback race! <3

Love the Big Lake Half- one of my favorite races as well! Happy to have come across your blog as well and look forward to reading it. I’m an active triathlete and father to 3 kids — 2 girls (5 and 7 years old now). Working hard to find the right way to encourage all the kids to be active and healthy and to eat healthy, but not focus too much and cause more harm than good.

I would absolutely love to run this race! My first and only half was last fall on a flat course. It would be great to kick off the season with this beautiful and challenging course! Having recently become a single mother, my racing will be limited, so having the opportunity to win this race entry fee would be fantastic! Thank you for your generosity!

Big Lake half marathon 2013 was my first half ever!! I loved the challenging course and will run it again regardless if I win a free entry :) But it would be nice!

I have run the Big Lake Half Marathon the past two years and I am looking forward to running it again. Getting a free entry to such a beautiful race would be so helpful for a college student like me :)

I want to run big lake again, this was my first half marathon in 2013, couldn’t run it last year due to a knee injury and looking to run it again!

This race pushed me to improve my running time and set a new PR! It’s also my mom’s favorite race to spectate…gorgeous scenery and a great excuse to visit the Tilton Diner on the way home :) Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

I have run this race a number of years … it is a beautiful course and well organized! If I run it this year it will between the Boston Marathon and the Maine Coast Marathon …

Last year was the first year that I ran the Big Lake Half Marathon. It was also the first half marathon I have run. I was so proud of myself for successfully completing it under my goal time after training for only 12 weeks. I will be running the race again this year and hopefully beating my time from last year. A free entry to this race would be an added bonus! :)

Hi RunFarGirl! I started reading your blog after I saw your entry on running during and after pregnancy. I just gave birth to my first- our sweet baby girl Emery, 3 weeks ago on 2/4/14. I’m also a distance runner and ran the entire pregnancy, even ran 10 miles the day I went into labor. At 3 weeks postpartum I’m trying to get back into it but hitting a few road blocks with exhaustion and aches/pains from the birth. You blog was really helpful to hear other runners have trouble getting back to running postpartum no matter how “in shape” they were before (I ran a 3:10 marathon in my first trimester now have trouble with a few miles!) I really want to run the Big Lake Half to have something to train for, and it being a few months away I will be able to rest and slowly return to my speed and distance training. Hope to win the registration!

I have been a lakes region person my whole life but just took up running seriously last year. Running the Alton Bay Half will be a dream! Hope I can make it!

As you know, I’m running a half in April- but I’ve been wanting to check this race out… I’ve heard such great reviews, and I want to give it a try! I would love to win :)

This was my first half last year and I thoroughly loved it, the Maple Syrup for placing in my age group was a great perk too!

I have run this race a few times, and it is one of my favorite 1/2’s. It is a great race to start off your season.

  18. Sarah says

I’ve run 3 half marathons, but none yet in my home state of NH. I’d love to run this and hopefully catch up with you on the course!

I actually am pacing my friend and have not signed up yet. I have wanted to run this race for years but I worked on Saturdays and it never got in.

  20. Emily Stover says

Did this last year-first time! The weather was gloomy, but a few minutes before start time, the weather cleared up, and it was GREAT! I got my half marathon PR at this race, so I’d love to beat it if I got a chance to run it again!
