Summer in the Northeast always seems to go by in a blur. And every time we get to the end of August, I always feel a little nostalgic and find myself scrolling through the photos on my phone to relive our summer adventures.
This summer took my family and I to the desert, the lake, the ocean and the mountains: we got a taste of it all and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It feels a bit sad to look back now that it is all over, but there are a few ways I like to keep that summer vibe alive even after we start back up with our homeschooling.
Here are a few things we do to keep summer endless:
Even if your kids are headed back to school plan a fun, spontaneous adventure before the homework load gets crazy. Pack up bathing suits and towels for your kiddos and head to the pool, lake or ocean for an impromptu swim after you pick them up from school. I spent most of the summer living in my prAna bathing suits, they stay-put for all the craziness of running after three kids at the lake.
The Merrow Top (which is totally ON SALE right now) is my absolute favorite because it doubles as a super cute bra under strappy tank tops. And if swimming isn’t your think, plan for an early morning weekend hike and pack breakfast for the top of the mountain. There’s nothing quite like seeing those first few rays of sunshine.
Take your practice to the patio, your breakfast to the backyard or your laundry to the picnic table. Opt outside for all the little things if you can, to soak up the last bits of great weather.
Taking a moment in the morning to be still in a quiet place is my way of starting off the day right. The new prAna Itzel Bra Top and Pillar Capris are the perfect combo that can take you from chilly morning practice to busy daytime fun. And if early mornings aren’t your thing, go for a walk after dinner to catch the sunset.
Grab a Friend
When the summer winds down it feels like everyone settles back into a routine and you don’t see friends as often. So take the initiative and invite a friend to join you; maybe it is as simple as sharing a cup of coffee or maybe you run to the top of a mountain together. Either way grab a friend and make one last summer memory together.
